Met Oval Alumni Drafted by Philadelphia Union

Former Met Oval and Brooklyn Knights standout Leo Fernandes was selected in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Philadelphia Union. He is currently in pre-season training with the Union in Deltona, FL and scored his first professional goal in his first game last week as the Union battled Orlando City to a 1-1 draw at the Disney Classic. He joined Philadelphia after a stellar four year career at Stonybrook University where he was a second team All-American, three-time America East Midfielder of the Year, and left the school as its all time leading scorer. Fernandes still has very strong ties at Met Oval. His brother Kaique plays for the U-18 Academy Team and his two youngest brothers Gabriel and Gustavo play for the U-14 Pre-Academy Team where his father Carlos, who played professionally in Brazil, serves as one of the coaches. We want to wish Leo the best of luck as he begins his professional career.
