The Metropolitan Oval Board of Directors today announced that Paul Buckle has resigned as Technical Director of the Metropolitan Oval in order to assume the role of manager of Cheltenham Town, a professional English League 2 team.
The Board of Directors has formed a Search Committee that will immediately commence a rigorous search for Paul’s successor. Under Paul’s tenure, Met Oval recently led the nation in players named to the U-14 national pool. Paul was also instrumental in building the Youth Center of Excellence that Met Oval continues to grow.
“We thank Paul for his significant contributions and outstanding leadership over the past two years, and it is a tribute to Met Oval that such a high-quality professional English team would seek to hire our technical director,” stated the Metropolitan Oval Board of Directors. “We wish Paul the best of luck in the next phase of his career, and have complete confidence that his successor will continue the success that Met Oval has achieved during Paul’s tenure.”
“I am proud of our accomplishments over the past two years and thankful for the opportunity I had at Met Oval,” said Paul Buckle. “Met Oval is in a great position to build on the foundation that we have laid down, and I am very optimistic about Met Oval’s future.”
