In a packed weekend schedule against local rival Albertson, Met Oval’s U-13 Pre Academy, U-14 Academy and U-15 pre Academy all earned hard-fought wins at Met Oval’s Youth Center of Excellence.
Met Oval U-14 Academy set the tone on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Albertson U-14 Academy. Sal Rasizzi’s brace and Luis Ten Jarpa’s lone tally were enough to secure victory in a physical match. Coach Hugo Guzman was impressed by Met Oval’s discipline with the ball and ability to adapt to tactical changes during the game.
Met Oval U-13 Pre Academy followed suit and played with great energy and tempo throughout the first half. A beautiful Balthazar Saunders’ free-kick struck the post and fell to Met Oval teammate Owen Algrant, who neatly finished the first of his two first half goals. The second came minutes later, as Victor Souza fed a streaking Owen who buried his shot and secured a 2-0 lead for Met Oval in the first half. As expected, Albertson came out firing in a tense second half as they looked to get back into the game. Despite an Albertson header goal from an in-swinging cross, Met Oval maintained their shape and discipline, and continued to generate scoring opportunities throughout the second half. Standout performances from Met Oval GK Manny Smalios and the back line of Mathis Varin, Justin Hessler, Victor Souza and Dylan Cordero helped Met Oval secure victory and a likely trip to the playoffs.
Met Oval U-15 Pre-Academy didn't alter the script and earned a 2-1 victory over Albertson's u15 with goals from Stefan Mirkovic and Denzel Nash.
In other action, the U13 pre academy had a Saturday game as well versus Gotchee that ended in a 1-1 draw with a goal from Niko Kapandaze.
The u11 and u12 pre academy teams won against NJCSA and FC Westchester respectively by wide margins. The U10s bowed out of the NY state cup losing a tough game ( 1-2) in the Quarterfinals vs Bethlehem. The U9 team earned a 2-0 victory in their return to action.
