Met Oval 2001's win NY State Cup and 2002's win NYCSL League Championship

What a day! While playing on adjacent fields simultaneously at the HBC Complex in Long Island both the 2001 and 2002 squads used dominating second half performances to win their championship matches.

The 2002's game was a few minutes ahead and after they beat Valencia 4-1 to win the NYCSL League Championship the entire squad moved over to the neighboring field to cheer their 2001 academy teammates on to victory.

After the 2001's dispatched Manhattan Soccer Club by the identical 4-1 score to win the NY State Cup, both squads celebrated their victories together on the field.

It wasn't only the players that were celebrating, as the fields were so close, the Met Oval families and friends were constantly cheering each other on as the goals kept coming.

It was a truly tremendous atmosphere as everyone involved were so excited for the players.

Because of the wins the season continues!

The 2002's have now qualified for the National Cup Mid-Atlantic Regionals which will take place from June 30-July 3 in Somerset, NJ. If they win the qualifier then the team will move on to the National Cup Finals in Aurora, Colorado from July 20-24.

The 2001's have now qualified for the National Cup Finals.
